Clinical Medical Assisting (CMA)

The Fall 2022 Medical Class is cancelled due to no available instructor for the class. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are in the process of re-structuring the Clinical Medical Assisting (CMA) class, from the current 8-month program to a 14-week program. The next class will be in the spring with tentative start and end dates of January 10, 2023, to April 15, 2023. The class hours will be Tuesday nights (three hours), Thursday nights (three hours), and Saturdays (seven and a half hours including a 30-minute lunch break). The fee will be $2,500. Registration starts on October 1, 2022, at which time we will confirm the dates and times.

Eden Area ROP’s lab-based Medical Assisting program prepares students to sit for the clinical portion of the California Clinical Medical Assisting exam and find work as a medical assistant.

Throughout our program, students study:

  • Human anatomy/physiology
  • Medical terminology
  • Pharmacology
  • Minor surgery methods
  • Medical records
  • Clinical skills (collecting and recording vital signs, preparing and giving injections and capillary puncture, EKGs, etc.)
  • Medical asepsis and infection control
  • Career prep and nutrition

Upon successful completion of our medical assisting program, students will also be certified CPR, AED, and First Aid responders.
